Memory Jar

I started a new “Memory Jar” tradition this year. Being a stay-at-home mom of two young children means that your life is a whirlwind. Your days are chaotic and fast-paced, and if you have a toddler, your days are even crazier. Parenting can be tiring, and you’re faced with challenges every day. If there’s one thing I’ve learned over the past few years though, it’s that for every difficult parenting moment you have, there’s a moment that balances everything out. A moment that you wish you could hold in your heart forever, but that can’t be captured by a camera. Like the first time your child tells you that he or she loves you, or that time you and your child just held each other for a couple of minutes, just because you had a couple of minutes. I started this Memory Jar as a means to document moments that I never want to forget. And at the end of every year from now on, we’ll have a jar full of memories to sift through and smile about.

Here is an example of a note I wrote for my jar a couple of months ago.
