Dressed for Fall
Fall has officially arrived in Seattle. We were spoiled with an unusually long, hot summer, but it’s time for Seattleites to grudgingly accept the fact that we’ll be staring out our windows at rain for the next nine months. And winter always seems to be in a rush in the NW, so temperatures drop pretty quickly around here. Of course, there are always a few things to look forward to when fall starts sprinkling raindrops and leaves on us. The anticipation of the holidays is always exciting. In our house, these holidays include Halloween, Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas and Chinese New Year. Jackson and Finley must be a couple of the luckiest kids in the gift-receiving world because their half-Jewish father and Chinese mother both have parents who celebrate different religions and traditions. We don’t discriminate around here, so they get to be spoiled by rotating grandparents from November through January or February (depending on the lunar calendar every year). Everyone wins.
We all love summer, but if there’s one thing fall has over summer, it’s fashion. For me, dressing for fall is another great reason to get excited about leaves changing colors and waiting for the wind to blow them off their trees. Fall fashion is all about a fabulous pair of jeans, gorgeous leather boots, and the season’s latest in outerwear. It’s about layering ourselves with chunky sweaters over blouses and covering ourselves with scarves, hats and other beautiful knits. And fall fashion isn’t only fun for adults. There is nothing cuter than tiny people, all bundled up in their fall attire. Here are a few favorites of my little fall fashionistas from this past month and from last fall.
